Explore the Estuary Live on the Web! Visit the Rachel Carson Site of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve, four uninhabited islands and saltmarshes located off Beaufort, North Carolina with a trained naturalist as your guide. Live and archived Internet videos provide virtual field trips to explore and learn about estuaries, the creatures that live there, and issues that affect these beautiful places. A few of these topics include sustainable seafoods, reptiles, cephalopods, fouling habitat, and boating.

Video streaming is available for both broadband and dialup. For very readable instructions and advice on using this technology, follow the link on the left hand side of the website entitled Help with Streaming Media.

This website also contains links on estuary teaching resources and celebrating National Estuaries Day.
